NIOA – Arming the Intervention

NIOA is the major supplier of guns and bullets to Australian police

NIOA manufactures bullets at their munitions factory in Benalla, Victoria, while their HQ is a large weapons facility at Brisbane Airport. The company recently opened a Melbourne office opposite Victoria Barracks in Coventry St, South Melbourne. NIOA is in partnership with global weapons giants Rheinmetall (Germany) and Herstal Group (Belgium). Now they have started making bombs and missiles as well.

Inside the Benalla Factory

NIOA represents in excess of 50 international suppliers including household names like, Federal and CCI ammunition, Ruger, Anschutz, Leupold, Bushnell, Colt, Glock and many more. Nonetheless, NIOA promotes itself as a model Queensland citizen. The company was awarded Prime Contractor of the Year and Land Business of the Year in Defence Connects – Australian Defence Industry Awards. NIOA is the major sponsor of this years Landforces Weapons Expo in Brisbane Qld.

NIOA AND THE MILITARISATION OF THE POLICE: #StopArmingKillers

Starting in 2017 the company branched out from the commercial gun market into military and law enforcement, supplying Australian and New Zealand police with 70,000 Glock pistols and providing the military with their latest infantry weapon – an automatic grenade launcher.

The Glock pistols are maintained through the Brisbane facility and the company also supplies 70 per cent of ammunition to Australian police. According to their website, by 2022 “Over one billion rounds have been supplied by NIOA to the Australian Law Enforcement, Military and Sporting markets”.

NIOA formed a partnership with Winchester (owned by Belgian conglomerate Herstal Group) in 2021. Together the two companies dominate the law enforcement market. In 2021 the two companies successfully tendered for the bulk of the armaments supply to the NT police, worth a total of $1.8 million.

The year of writing (2022) marks 15 years since the beginning of the NT Intervention. There have been 500 deaths in custody since the Royal Commission into Deaths in Custody report was handed down in 1991. First Nations families across Australia and communities in the NT have repeatedly called for the implementation of the Royal Commission’s recommendations, an end to the imprisonment of children and the repeal of the repressive measures of the Intervention. This colony was founded on racist violence, with police and military guns. To this day, institutional racist violence is killing First Nations people. Wage Peace is calling on NIOA to end its business with Australian (or any) police. Make something better than bullets. Stop arming the Intervention.

WHO IS NIOA?

NIOA is part of the rapidly developing weapons industry in Brisbane and they have benefited financially from being part of the Global Supply Chain Program.

This Queensland company has evolved from a small regional ammunition retailer to Australia’s largest privately owned firearms and munitions supplier. New partnerships with companies like Rheinmetall and US Winchester have been encouraged and financially supported by state and federal governments, bringing NIOA into the global supply chain. NIOA also exercises political influence through the board of SIFA (Shooting Industry Foundation of Australia), and through familial ties. NIOA CEO Robert Nioa is also the son-in-law of federal member for Kennedy Bob Katter. NIOA has donated at least $160,000 to Katter’s Australian Party (KAP), and $20,000 to the Liberal Democrats.

NIOA does not file accounts with the corporate regulator but a sign of its growth comes from the Austender website, which shows various NIOA companies have sold firearms and ammunition, war weapons, vehicles and other military equipment worth $1.2 billion to the Commonwealth government since 2012 . Partner company to NIOA, Rheinmetall, won a massive defence contract in 2018 worth $5.2 billion after meeting Barnaby Joyce at NIOA’s headquarters.

The government defence export strategy and the increasing militarisation of police forces is advantageous for  NIOA. The company has had a productive association with Christopher Pyne, who in January 2018, while Minister for Defence, announced the award of a $100 million Federal government contract by the Commonwealth under the LAND 17-1C.2 Future Artillery Ammunition program. In 2020 Pyne was welcomed as the chairman of the company’s inaugural advisory board. The revolving door between the Defence Ministry and weapons corporations has seen Kim Beasely, Brendan Nelson and Christopher Pyne all take up lucrative leadership positions with the very weapons companies they awarded contracts to while in parliament.

NIOA BLOCKADED IN BRISBANE

Activists blockaded the gates of weapons manufacturer NIOA in Meanjin on Jagera and Turribal land on 17th of June in solidarity with the POLICE CEASEFIRE call by Yuendumu elders. NIOA is a Brisbane-based weapons manufacturer and the majority supplier of guns and bullets to Australian police.

Activists spoke to the connection between continuing state violence, the militarisation of police forces and the development of the Australian weapons industry. Speakers drew the connection between extreme frontier violence by militarised police in the previous two centuries of colonisation and the current presence of militarised police across remote communities. They listened to the plea from the heart of Australia from the elders of Yuendumu: “Enough violence! No more guns in remote communities.”

Nioa is the major sponsor of the upcoming Land Forces weapons exhibition, on in Brisbane in October.

Nioa have used the police weapons contracts to develop their business, becoming a major player in the weapons industry, including the emerging missile program. Since 2012 NIOA has supplied Australian and New Zealand police with 70,000 Glock pistols, which are maintained through the Brisbane facility.

NIOA BULLET FACTORY at BENALLA, VICTORIA, BLOCKADED

Today the NIOA munitions factory in Benalla, (Victoria) has been blockaded by activists from Wage Peace, in solidarity with the call by Yuendumu elder Jampijinpa, Ned Hargraves, for a police ceasefire. Benalla is in Yorta Yorta territory. NIOA bullets are manufactured at the Australian government munitions plant in Benalla, two hours north of Melbourne.

Activists spoke about the violence of colonisation, which has continued to today in the institutional racist violence that is killing First Nations people. Wage Peace is calling on NIOA to end its business with Australian (or any) police. Make something better than bullets. “Stop arming the Intervention.”

Wage Peace’s actions today are in solidarity with the powerful Karrinjarla Muwajarri initiative by elders in Yuendumu, a Walpiri community north of Alice Springs. Walpiri elders are calling for a police ceasefire – no more guns on their lands – along with a raft of judicial and social measures to increase their safety and respect self-determination.“

We demand our self-determination, our rightful decision-making authority, and our resources to be restored to us… What we are calling for is Karrinjarla Muwajarri, a police ceasefire.”

NIOA is a Brisbane-based weapons manufacturer and the majority supplier of guns and bullets to Australian police. Since 2012 NIOA has supplied Australian and New Zealand police with 70,000 Glock pistols, NIOA also supplies 70 per cent of ammunition to Australian police.

BLOCKADED!

Stop Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin:

Major exporters of colonialism and death

The annual general meeting of the arms company Lockheed Martin will be held the 28th of April this year. In this meeting, a report is given to Lockheed Martin’s shareholders on the company’s strategy and productivity during the last year. This meeting will surely not bring many surprises for its shareholders: according to figures presented by the International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the multinational Lockeed Martin is clearly among the top three in the list of the 100 arms producing companies with the highest profits between 2002 and 2008, and between 2009 and 2018, it has topped the list. In 2021, Lockheed Martin was the top-earning “defense” company,[1] followed by Raytheon Technologies, Boeing, Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics.

These five companies are all headquartered in the United States, yet they are multinationals that have an impact on promoting militarism around the world. In the case of Lockheed Martin, 96% of the company’s revenues came from the “defense” industry in 2021.[2] Additionally, Lockheed Martin is part of the companies that run the Atomic Weapons Establishment in the United Kingdom,[3] which designs, produces and maintains a nuclear arsenal.

UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.[4]

In 2015, Lockheed Martin acquired Sikorsky, a company that manufactures helicopters and is present in Colombia. Black Hawk helicopters are one of the main products produced by Sikorsky and therefore Lockheed Martin. These helicopters, also known as UH-60, are produced by Sikorsky, and from the beginning they have had a military use. The helicopter’s name evokes the history and colonial reality of the U.S. military industry.

The name “Black Hawk” is the result of U.S. Army Regulation 70-28, which stipulates that helicopters must be named after indigenous nations and leaders of the territory colonized by the United States.[5] This is the case of the “Black Hawk” helicopter, which is named after an indigenous leader of the Sauk Nation. Ma-ka-tai-me-she-kia-kiak, who was known as Black Hawk, led a group of Sauk and Fox warriors in the Black Hawk War of 1832. This was a response to the Anglo-American colonialists who sought to steal the lands of the indigenous nations. The use of this leader’s name for a helicopter by the U.S. military industry is an extension of the colonial militarist project.

Sirkosky, and Lockheed Martin, have continued the legacy of this project, as exemplified by the fact that the first combat use of the Black Hawk was in the U.S. invasion of the Caribbean island nation of Grenada in 1983. Since then, the helicopter has had an extensive operational history, often used in imperialist and colonial military operations.

Black Hawk helicopters in the U.S. invasion of Grenada.[6]

Examples include its use by the Australian military since 1988 in its military incursions in Cambodia, Papua, New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor and Pakistan.

In 1989, Black Hawks were used in the U.S. invasion of Panama. The United States also used these helicopters in its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 1991, as part of the war in Iraq, Black Hawks were used in the largest air assault mission in the history of the U.S. military, in which more than 300 helicopters were used.[7]

In 1994, Israel received 10 of these helicopters and put them to use for the first time in 1996 in the “Grapes of Wrath” operation. This operation was carried out in southern Lebanon and involved Israel’s explicit and intentional provocation of a humanitarian crisis. The Israeli state, in contravention of international law, threatened the civilian population with bombardment, ordering the evacuation of the entire civilian population, resulting in the displacement of more than 400,000 people[8]. According to Human Rights Watch, 154 civilians were killed in the operation following the bombardment of the area.[9]

Lockheed Martin in Colombia

Between 1988 and 2018, the Colombian Air Force and National Police acquired 103 Black Hawk helicopters.[10] There are pilot training centers in Colombia (in Melgar, Tolima) and maintenance centers (at the Tolemaida air base, Nilo, Cundinamarca) for Black Hawk helicopters. Since 2018, these centers are also used by the armed forces of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. Since they were first bought by the Colombian State, they have been used in a series of atrocities.

In 1988, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was used in the Santo Domingo massacre, where the Colombian Air Force massacred 17 people (11 adults and 6 minors) in the village of Santo Domingo in the department of Arauca, using a cluster grenade and strafing.[11]

In 2003, three Black Hawk helicopters were used in a mass arbitrary detention operation of more than 110 people, including public officials, in the department of Risaralda.[12]

On April 1st, 2005, the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police of Colombia, using five Black Hawk helicopters (among other aircraft), sprayed glyphosate on illicit crops in rural areas of several municipalities in the department of Boyacá, going against the policy of crop replacement which protects the livelihood of small farmers.[13]

In 2019, a Black Hawk helicopter launched rockets in northern Santander that landed 200 meters from peasant homes.[14]

During the 2021 National Strike, a Black Hawk helicopter landed over a Bogotá school to supply tear gas to the Mobile Anti-Riot Squadron (ESMAD).[15]

In Colombia there is also a modified version of the UH-60 helicopter, the AH-60, known as the Arpia. This is an more lethal version of the UH-60, because it has rocket launchers and machine guns.[16] This version was created by the Colombian Air Force, Elbit Systemsand Sikorsky. This helicopter also has Spike LR and ER missiles, from the Israeli military company Rafael. These have been manufactured in Colombia since 1999,[17] and by January 2021, the Colombian State will have 10 of these helicopters.[18] Recently, there has been greater collaboration with the Israeli giant Elbit Systems, which has provided a vision system for the helicopter[19].

In 2002, two Arpia helicopters participated in Operation Orion, the military operation in Medellin in which paramilitaries collaborated with the Colombian army to carry out illegal raids, mass arrests, extrajudicial executions of civilians and forced disappearances.[20]

In 2007, an Arpia helicopter indiscriminately strafed six peasants in a rural area of Norte de Santander.[21]

In 2009, an Arpia helicopter bombed a few meters away from 10 civilians in the department of Guaviare. This happened after these people were attacked with machine guns by Mobile Brigade No. 7, which resulted in the killing of 3 people and injuries to 2 of them.[22]

Among other Lockheed Martin weapons and products, Colombia also has the C-130 Hercules, a military transport aircraft. The Colombian State has 7 of these aircrafts, including three that were donated by the U.S. government in 2020 and 2021.[23]

Lockheed Martin at the Expodefensa 2021[24] arms fair.

Likewise, during the Expodefensa 2021 arms fair, held in the city of Bogota, Lockheed Martin offered the Colombian Navy the CMS-330 combat management system, which would expand the lethal capacity of this institution.[25]

Of particular concern is that the Colombian government is in the process of acquiring between 24 and 36 “F-16” war planes which are produced by Lockheed Martin[26]. These would replace the 23 Israeli Kfir planes currently used by the Colombian Air Force. Like in the case of other collaborations with the Israeli military industry already mentioned, the wings of the F-16 have been produced by Israel Aerospace Industries since the 1980s. The Colombian government justifies the purchase of these planes, which would cost 14 billion pesos, stating they would make up for a “strategic disadvantage” with Venezuela.[27] In other words, the purchase of these planes seeks to deepen the militaristic approach of the State inside and outside its borders.

We oppose this purchase and invite you to take action against this and other purchases from Lockheed Martin. To that end, we call you to the global mobilization against Lockheed Martin that will take place on April 28th, during the company’s annual shareholder meeting. Let’s say #StopLockheedMartin, and oppose dirty deals – like the purchase of F-16 planes – that seek to create profits for a few, while creating death for many others.

The track record of Lockheed Martin and its products say it all: this is a company that brings with it death and a colonial and imperial legacy. Its collaborations with companies like its current subsidiary Sikorsky and Israeli military industry giants like Elbit Systems, Rafael and Israel Aerospace Industries make it a company that profits more and more from the escalation of war in this and other territories. When the Colombian State purchases their products, such as the F-16 planes it intends to buy soon, it only increases its lethal capacity and its brutal repression of the people of this country. Let us show the annual general meeting of Lockheed Martin for what it is: a blood-soaked celebration.

Wage Peace, Disrupt War and Repair the Planet!

2021 was a massive year for disrupting war and waging peace

It was a huge year for Wage Peace.

This is what we did!

1/ We intervened into the Land Forces Weapons Expo. Every day for 6 days we made a significant disruption to the arms dealers. 39 brave people faced arrest. West Papuans were always out the front, their beautiful faces and music leading the way. 2/ We helped our community organise disruptive actions, circling around our four strategy areas, each aimed at stopping Australian assistance to Indonesian state- violence in West Papua. “Stop Training Killers” At the AFP in Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra. Led by brave West Papuan friends “Stop Arming Killers” We had a good go this year at the weapons dealers: Thales, Boeing, and Rheinmetall; in Melbourne, Bendigo and Brisbane. “The SAS is Training Kopassis” at Swan Island. War Crimes Start right there. Liberate Swan Island: Earth Care Not Warfare “Tear up the Lombok Treaty” DFAT pfff! What a wet rag. DFAT holds tight to the silencing of politicians and diplomats via the Lombok Treaty. 3/ We stood in solidarity with political prisoner Victor Yeimo and with the people in Tambrauw resisting militarisation and across Indonesia resisting the racism of special autonomy. 4/ Our community of active supporters challenged a school at Maitland that has the Defence Department and Boeing writing its curriculum. We shut down a teachers’ professional development event at Rheinmetall with the power of guitar and Bob Dylan. 5/ We assisted disruptions at Hanwha and Hechler and Koch in solidarity with friends in Korea and Germany. These companies are also actively selling to Indonesia. 6/ We know now where Indonesia gets its weapons and we have built a new website showing the world. Coming soon!

The Memorial

In every single one of our actions, we told the stories of West Papuan people who have been killed by TNI, (the Indonesian army) or by Polri, (the police); or harmed by both, using state-violence together, against ordinary people. Our memorial has been seen across the Globe.

Four activists in Korea drew attention to West Papua for the first time while disrupting an arms expo. And in Germany and in Colombia.

We call on you to become active with us. There is an arms dealer starting up in every neighbourhood of Australian cities. Spend that money on Earth Care NOT Warfare!

We will show up to support YOU, where ever you are. We can help you find resources, easily. Here we are with the Castlemaine and Bendigo crew.

Please chip in to fund our fabulous weapons campaigner. If you can’t join us on the ground, chip in a monthly donation of $20. Donations uplift us. They helps us sense your love and support.

We couldn’t do this without you, our active supporters in Castlemaine, Bendigo, Melbourne, Northern NSW, Newcastle and Brisbane. Thank you!

We do this work with our partners – our friends organising persistently and bravely in the Climate Movement, against the rise of right wing forces, for the freedom of the truthteller Julian Assange, and for First Nations sovereignty here in this land. We salute you all!

We build our stories on truth-telling. At our core we commemorate the Frontier Wars, the first military action on this Land was against First Nations people. Their stories of resistance inspire us.

Join us in 2022. Chip in to show your love and solidarity.

Write and tell us what part of our work inspires you – and what you might want to join in 2022.

Best wishes in this new year. Stay safe.

Redirect the $225bn For Obsolete Submarines to the Climate Emergency

Sign the Petition: Click Here

A climate emergency has clearly been unfolding – right now – throughout Australia. We must rapidly change the current arrangements. There are actions that can be taken now. Immediate redirection of funds for protection and restoration of Nature is required.

Addressing the current fire emergency must occur NOW with the application of Australian Defence Force resources.

$325billion has been promised to several military mega-projects: by the current Government with support of the Labor Opposition.

Submarines will cost $225bn alone. The first is not due till 2050 yet money is being poured out to Naval, a French weapons corporation and other transnational corporations which specialise in hi-tech military equipment.

The submarines are highly contested: claims are that they will be obsolete, pointless, made-in-France, unlikely to work with US partners and expensive. Between May and December 2019, the estimated cost escalated from $100bn to a massive $225bn.

The money should be applied immediately to the climate emergency. Climate change can be stopped and reversed using Nature’s own mechanisms.

The Australian Defence Force are best positioned by far to address this crisis in Australia. They have the organisational capacity, skills and access to equipment and materials required. Together with health and social institutions, the ADF can make a huge difference.

Veterans and serving members of the ADF understand recovery and healing. Call on them now.

Addressed to

Minister Linda Reynolds (Minister of Defence), Hon. Richard Marles (Shadow Minister of Defence),

Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese,

Minister and Shadow Minister for Defence Industries, Members of the “National Security Committee”

Chief of Defence General Angus Campbell

Our petition:

We petition you to agree to allow the temporary, or permanent, redirection of money allocated for the Attack Class Submarines to the Climate Emergency.

Deploy ADF human and material resources to the current fire emergency and to fight future fire emergencies.

Deploy ADF resources to secure Australian communities and landscapes in the face of the Climate Emergency and to assist immediate recovery efforts.

Deploy ADF resources to protect and restore Nature as a practical response to global heating.

We see it is pragmatic at this moment to redirect military spending to the actual crises being faced by communities in Australia.

Militarism May: the Rise and Rise of Australian Militarism

“So you wanna do something to stop this crazy rise in Australian militarism?”

It might have been the Government Duopoly’s prescribed month: “Militarism May”.

  • Brendan Nelson proudly proclaimed he invited corporate weapons manufacturers such as Lockheed and BAE to build advertising installations to commemorate their weapons at the Australian War Memorial – @AWMemorial.
  • A new Cooperative Research Centre – the CRC for Defence was set up by @cpyne [Christopher Pyne] in Brisbane. WARNING: don’t hit on that link or you will puke.
  • The weapons manufacturers have been slurping over our universities, popping their people through the #revolvingdoor of governance and signing deals. Just the other day, at the end of Militarism May, Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce has been reappointed as chancellor of University of Adelaide, continuing for a further two years.
  • You can watch the ghastly show unfold at Defence Connect our friendly Momentum Media managed facilitator of weapons contracts and killing projects. See horrid examples down the bottom; but make sure you have a counsellor on hand.

Analysis Here Analysis There: US Foreign Policy for Australia

Bases_image_from_Richard_Tanter.pngRichard Tanter, movement professor, writes that not only is defence spending growing massively at 4% a year but that our entire foreign policy is built on colonial settler assumptions about Australia’s pathetic place in the world: a long and complex piece but well worth-while.

John Menadue questions on his excellent blog ‘who is in charge of Australia’s relations with China: the PM or ASIO?’

In a second article, Prof. Tanter reminds us that Pine Gap uses so much energy that the Government has to interfere with ‘free market’ energy contracts to protect the US interests. More US meddling in Australian foreign policy.

Turns out #warcoststheearth; So a new Earth and Militarism project is underway at Friends of the Earth Australia.

But Australia is Waking up – #DisarmUnis #DisarmAWM [The War Memorial]

DisarmUnis_speech.png

We know people young and old are interested. They are waking up about militarism. Watch Jodie Pall as she makes a pointed speech at her graduation. Check out the scientist who kindly supports her by holding her degree for her!

Every few days there is a new Facebook page challenging the rise of militarism.

Building on the leading work of LockoutLockheed, now we have #DisarmUnis  …with DisarmFlinders   DisarmMonash  DisarmUNSW and others…

What’s the #Disarmunis Plan

#DisarmUnis crew have produced this fabulous article by Lara Sonnenschein. It’s actually useful writing! It points to a comprehensive set of nonviolence campaign objectives that – if enacted – might actually create change. This work will be replicated by other unis to address University projects and divestment with skilled campaigning.

What to do? Your organisation can endorse the report which is expected from this investigation.

#DisarmAWM – Commemorating US weaponry!

MAPW’s Sue Wareham put the spot light on the change in focus at the War Memorial in Canberra (the Australian War Memorial or AWM). See the Canberra Times artilce, and letters to the Editor. Also published in The Age.

what-to-do_(1).jpgWhat to do?!

  • – Tweet – search War Memorial to find the conversation and retweet adding the #DisarmAWM
  • – Share on Facebook
    – Point out it is now commemorating weaponry rather than death.
    – You might even add a call for Brendan Nelson’s retirement 🙂
    – And chime in with your considered views with a letter to the editor in the Canberra Times.

Watch out for a more focussed set of campaigns with the objective of removing the influence of the weapons manufacturers on the AWM. Contact MAPW.

America and Me: Exclusive online screening for Wage Peace Subscribers for June. Organise a Group or Community Screening

AMERICA & ME documents the filmmaker’s observations over three months in the US during the lead up to the surprise election of Donald Trump. Eight US cities later he chronicled what was happening on the streets of America; 40 years after Ronald Reagan introduced the economic theories of Milton Friedman and the infamous Chicago Boys to the world.

Bradbury interviews veterans of America’s failed wars to maintain Empire, gets down in the gutter with the homeless to find out what life is like on the streets, speaks to a nun who was violated by the military junta in Guatemala under the directions of a CIA operative, goes to the US/Mexican border where Trump plans to build the Wall, films out front of CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia where deadly drone attacks are ordered up every ‘Killer Tuesday’ by the US President…and ends up at the Standing Rock protest camp for Election Day.

Melbourne: Potatoes Super-glue Themselves to BorderForce: Blockade Entry.

#FakeSpud! #SackDutton! Our excellent friends at WACA and their  potato friends still lead creativity with this formative action yesterday. They are addressing the militarisation of borders and migration with ongoing targeting of Border Force and its Commandant. Join them and learn.

And God, do we need to keep a creative prophetic imagination…

And there’s SOS: “Students of Sustainability National Camp” in July. This is a gathering of activist folk and place of great transformation.

Sponsor an Aboriginal Activist to attend because you have money and they don’t! 🙂

Independent Peaceful Australia Network

Hear Dr Vince Scappatura on “US soft power influence in Australian politics and culture”. Newcastle/FB Live Feed, Sat 23rd June, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM AEST

Wage Peace picked this from IPAN Events as a useful and interesting event. We will help to broadcast it by IPAN Facebook Live Feed. Vince will scare you with the story of the relational, crawly enculturalisation that is facilitated by the Yanks to win over politicians. You’ll have to listen. It’s truly awful. But its is a potential target for future action.

So stick it in ya diary. 7 pm, IPAN’s Facebook Live Feed.

If you volunteer for Wage Peace we might ask you to put it around in some sort of systematic and useful way.

Assange

Folk are organising. Assange is a North Queenslander whose organisation took some big risks to reveal the corporations links and State lies in relation to corporate driven war.

Events are to be held in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne in solidarity.

19th June, 7pm, our friends at EvoLens are organising a Bring Assange Home Light Vigil Thanks EvoLens!

Scouting for Intellect 🙂 Campaign thinkers and writers.

We at Wage Peace reckon we need to build a bit of intellectual capital! We are scouting for someone to work between movement activities and parliament to support interactive actions and research across those two spaces.

And we are are looking for a very short term ‘lead campaigner’ for the #ToxicSAS campaign. For an intensive few weeks – suit a uni student.

Tell us: What would you need to do these projects?

Volunteer. There’s plenty happening. We’ll give you a little something…and make friends… Get your friends to sign up

The anti-military movement has about 3 days of paid workers per week for the whole of Australia! That’s why we have set up Wage Peace – to link projects, provide platforms and infrastructure for start up initiatives, to amplify the stuff that is happening. Lets make it build: Become a monthly donor and we’ll pass your money on where it can be used.

Those of us working on the project are around the country and we invite you to play with us, or donate!

Defence Connect: A must for your nonviolence strategy… 🙁 This is only a tiny fraction of their daily newsletter.
